Thornbury Castle on sale for £8.5 million
I guess this isn’t exactly breaking news, but it recently came to our attention that Thornbury Castle hit the market this Spring and is asking £8.5 million (~$11 million). Not a bad deal for the 28-room castle-turned-hotel where Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn spent part of their honeymoon. We spent a night in the castle back in January during our road trip through England and it was a surreal experience. In fact, we loved it so much that we’re contemplating making an offer. Unfortunately we’re just a few (million) dollars shy of being able to put in a competitive bid. So if anyone else is in the market to buy a castle, we thought we’d spread the word that there’s a good one available.
Holy cow that’s beautiful. I love it and wish I could have two.
It was pretty amazing.
Were they having an open house or something? How did u get in?
It’s a hotel. Anyone can stay there.
Oh wow. Cool. Sorry. I didn’t realize that.
Yeah it’s awesome. They converted it to a luxury hotel a while ago with a full restaurant. I assume the new buyer will continue to operate it as a hotel.

It’s quite a place to have all by yourself otherwise…cheers.
We were looking for a castle to drop a few bones on, thanks for sharing!
I’m sure you guys will find an affordable one in the Back Bay.
