Product Review – Rumpl Puffy Blanket

Laura is the type of person that wears multiple layers during a heatwave, so we decided to give a Rumpl puffy blanket a shot as a potential cold weather remedy on our travels. We took it on our recent trip to Minnesota and  Yellowstone,  and it ended up being a necessity on our early morning animal searches when the temp dropped to the low 30’s.

Specs

We ended up going with the Original Puffy Blanket in the “throw” size. It also comes in “one-person” and “two-person” sizes.

  • Material: 20D Ripstop Nylon with DWR with 3D Hollow Fiber Synthetic Insulation
  • Weight: 2.1 lbs
  • Dimensions: 50″ x 70″
  • Water resistant
  • Machine Washable

Since it’s made of the same material as sleeping bags and insulated winter jackets, the blanket was as warm as advertised. The best part was that it is extremely light and packs up nicely into the stuff sack that it comes in. Although it took a bit of engineering, we managed to fit it into one of our carry-ons  and bringing it on future-road trips will be no problem at all. The blanket was ideal for a range of activities, including but not limited to: sleeping, sleeping in the hammock, sleeping on the dock, sleeping on the couch, and sleeping on the ground. These are all activities at which we excel with or without a puffy-blanket, but the Rumpl added a level of comfort and warmth that was previously absent. It was a major game-changer on our Yellowstone trip, and we plan on it being a staple on all future camping trips and weekends in New Hampshire
